iPod Keeps on Ticking
March 10, 2007

In a fit of sleep depravation I accidentally put my iPod through the wash and even the drier. (Both my kids have had ear infections and upset stomachs due to the antibiotics - needless to say I've not slept much this week) What's amazing though is that despite this rather extreme "durability test" my iPod Nano came through without a single problem. I plugged it in and it played fine. Wow. Of course it probably helped that it was the Flash memory version and not the hard drive version.

My husband's (hard drive) video iPod couldn't withstand his work conditions (ie, being dropped on a concrete floor), so he ended up getting a cheap flash-drive mp3 player. I don't know the brand. But flash drives seem to be the way to go if you're going to be moving around a lot with your mp3 player.

It certainly makes the gym easier. My other iPod was a 2cd gen 10 GB iPod that was hard drive based. But it was a real hassle at the gym as you had to put it in your pocked with long wires that were always getting tangled. This one you just strap to your arm and away you go. Plus I don't mind it only having 2 GB since I just typically listen to my gym mix and a few podcasts.

Now if I could just keep my kids healthy enough so I can go to the gym!

Yes Clark, but will it blend?

You should notify Apple. They may use your experience to advertise on their website, and you might even get a newer more up to date iPod out of the deal.

I don't think I'm alone judging from the google hits for ipod and washing machine.
